Welcome to our new look newsletter. Our monthly missive will feature new training courses, events, policy news, careers campaigns, tenders and jobs. From time to time, we'll also feature some of the people helping to achieve sustainable communities. 

Mind the skills gap

Our report on labour shortages and skills gaps in the sustainable communities sector continues to receive loads of attention. News stories and in-depth features have appeared in a range of specialist magazines and more than 2,000 people have downloaded the report from our website.

Strong foundations

The UK’s first ever foundation degree in sustainable communities is starting in January 08 at Sheffield Hallam University. The course is delivered as a part-time degree over three years and the first year will be delivered in block days on a Friday and Saturday once a month. Employers or suitable applicants may be eligible for a bursary from ASC, worth £500 in the first year of study.

Raising the game

Want to develop your skills in managing and leading sustainable communities?

We’re currently recruiting to our learning programme, Raising Our Game. The accredited programme will run in Cumbria, Lancashire, Yorkshire and the South East in late 2007 and spring 2008.
